Three questions cover NBA betting: what number does the bet settle against, whether overtime counts, and what voids it. Answer those from how the market itself is worded and most arguments never start. The examples here use invented numbers on a ₱100 stake, and players must be 21 or older.
NBA Betting Markets Side by Side
Pick the market before the team. A moneyline asks who wins. A spread hands one side a head start. A total ignores the winner and adds up both scores.
| Market | Example line | You win if |
|---|---|---|
| Moneyline | Team A to win | Team A wins the game |
| Spread | Team A −5.5 | Team A wins by 6 or more |
| Total | Over 220.5 | Both teams score 221 or more together |
| Player prop | Player X over 24.5 points | Player X scores 25 or more |
A line ending in .5 cannot tie. A whole-number line can land dead on the number and push.
Quick check: a minus sign tags the side that has to win by more than the posted number.
Reading NBA Odds on a Phone Screen
Odds show the price of each side next to the line. A typical spread pays the same price on both sides, around −110 in American form, or about 1.91 in decimal. Backing a −110 price means risking ₱110 to profit ₱100, so you must take slightly more than half of your spread bets just to break even.
- Find the line (the spread or total number) first.
- Find the price beside it (−110, 1.91 or 10/11).
- Work out your return: stake times the decimal price.
Example: a ₱100 stake at 1.91 pays back ₱191 on a win, which is ₱91 profit.
Overtime, Scratches and Postponements
These three events cause most disputed NBA bets. Overtime can add points to a total or flip a winner. A late scratch, where a player is ruled out, can void a prop. A postponed game may void every open market once a set time passes.
| Event | Typical effect | Where it is written |
|---|---|---|
| Overtime | Usually counted in full-game markets | The market’s settlement wording |
| Player does not play | Prop voided or lost, depending on the rule | The prop’s terms |
| Game postponed | Open bets voided after a deadline | The sportsbook’s general rules |
The wording on the bet slip beats any rule of thumb you have read, this page included.
A Worked NBA Night With a ₱500 Limit
Set the limit first, then size the bets so one bad game cannot end the night.
- Budget: ₱500 for the night.
- Split it into five ₱100 bets, one per game, and no more.
- Pick markets you can read: a spread or a total beats a prop you cannot explain.
- After each result, do not raise the next stake to win it back.
If the first three bets lose, you are down ₱300 and still have ₱200 of plan left. The point is that the loss limit decides the night, not the scoreboard.
Betting Without a Chase
Pick two or three games, not every game on the schedule. Set a loss figure for the night, such as ₱500, and close the app when it is gone. The sports betting hub covers the legal and age checks, while the boxing page and the esports page cover other sports.

How to Get Started
-
Name the market
Name it in one line (moneyline, spread or total) so it is clear which number settles the result.
-
Find the overtime and void rule
Find the clause covering overtime, a player who sits out, and a postponed game.
-
Stake the number you wrote down
Bet at or below the peso figure you set before tip-off, then leave the rest of the budget alone.
